Day 75
Name: Al-Batin
From the root b-t-n which has the following classical Arabic connotations: to be concealed, to lie hidden and to penetrate into, to be inside. This name is opposite of the previous name Az-Zahir, Allah is the unseen. Although Allah is everywhere and evident, Allah is unseen. We cannot perceive Allah or see Allah, not even the Prophets who Allah spoke to could see him. Allah’s visual is beyond our imagination and out of our scope. Our imagination consists of created things and our interpretations are derived upon these creations, but Allah is not created but is the sole creator. Even these 99 names do not encompass even a speckle of who Allah.
“He is the First and the Last, the Ascendant and the Intimate, and He is, of all things, Knowing.” 57:3
